  • After Mom helped me pack my classroom up for the end of the year and to move to another classroom for the next year, we drove to Utah.  On the way we read A Man Called Norman by Mike Adkins.

That weekend Mom and I went to one of my favorite stores...Home Depot!  We purchased 10 eighty pound bags of cement!  Dad and I finished the job mixing, pouring and smoothing out the cement to make a nice place to keep our garbage and recycling bins for easier access.

Here Dad is preparing the hole.

    June 2010 140

After helping to mix and stir the cement, I was given the task of smoothing the cement.

    June 2010 146

Almost done...the last load!  I was successful carrying one of the bags to be mixed and even surprised my dad in doing so. :)

    June 2010 147

For my birthday, Mom and Dad took me out for my birthday!  We went to Rumbi's!  YUMMY!

    June 2010 142

    June 2010 144

Other tasks awaited their time of being done...staining/protecting the front porch with Thompson's Water Seal.  It looked so refreshed after we sealed it again, but after it dried, the fresh wood color lightened.

The Wasatch mountain range continues to shine her beauty.

    June 2010 197

After coming back from spending a few hours with Karen, a high school friend, Mom began a new project...remaking a table for the back porch.

    The new table!

  • When I drove to Utah to spend time at my parent's house, I was greeted with a project...painting the entire family room.  Mom, Dad and I had a bunch of fun!

    2009_08020001

Even though we had the air conditioning on, when Dad painted inside the skylight, it was about 104 degrees when the rest of the house was around 70 degrees.  Dad even checked the temperature out by tying a thermometer around his neck while he was in there for only a few minutes.

Dad decided he wanted to have proof that he painted. :)

    2009_08020009 2009_08020011

    Mom's expertise was edging.

    2009_08020013

About 4 hours before Melis and Abee flew in from Washington, we finished painting, cleaned up the paint stuff, vacuumed, dusted, put all the furniture back, and cleaned ourselves up.

Dad and I left for camping at Flaming Gorge, Utah a few days before the rest of the family.  We got a fishing license for a day on the Wyoming side.

Dad and I were early to rise with Erika, Tori and Tim.

    2009_08020044 2009_08020045

Tim's boat was very fancy...so fancy that he was able to set the fishing line for the depth the fish were at to have a higher chance at catching successfully.  Most fish on the radar were about 35-42 feet deep.

Since I only had a one day fishing license and hadn't caught anything yet, Tim was kind enough to take us out for a third time...and that is when I caught my small mouth bass.

  • While my parents were here in April, we went to Northwest Trek.  We had so much fun!

Abee was curious about the antlers, but wasn't too sure she wanted to touch them.

    2009_04160071

Before we went on a tram ride, we decided to have lunch.

    2009_04160072

Abee decided to say hi to the other lunch groups. :)

    2009_04160073 2009_04160075 2009_04160076

Since we had to wait a bit for the tram ride, we decided to do the walking tour first.

    The bears were active.

It was then time for our tram ride.

We immediately saw a female moose!

  • Spring Break

Over spring break, I went to see my parents in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sunday after church we had the youth group over to stuff Easter eggs for the Easter egg hunt.  We stuffed 210 eggs.

    2009_04110003

After my dad's lesson, they played on the Wii.

    2009_04110002 2009_04110005

I haven't seen the mountains so up close for a while, I got a little excited and took pictures like I was seeing the mountains for the first time.

    2009_04110006 2009_04110007 2009_04110008 2009_04110009

Later that evening, we began building Easter crosses for a school project my mom was preparing to do for 125 students on Friday.

    2009_04110017 2009_04110018

After a successful time making the school Easter projects, Dad, Karen and I headed to Brighton to snowshoe.  It was so warm we didn't even need to wear mittens or gloves.  Even I only had 2 layers...that never happens!

It's kind of hard to see, but if you look closely, you'll be able to see a snowboarder in the air...just look at the pine tree.

  • Rainy Day Hike

Even though it was a rainy day, Brian, Melis, Abee, Kristin, Jacob, Scott and I went for a rainy day hike.  When we got about 10 miles from our destination, we had to stop and park since we hit snow in the road, which only 4-wheel-drive vehicles would be able to get through without damaging the underside of the car.  So, we decided to make the best of the situation and check out the water.

Since Abee was having a tough day, Melis hung out with her in the car.  Then Brian, Melis and Abee headed their own way.  Kristin, Jacob, Scott and I remained for more adventure.

Scott decided to climb a steep hill.

    He made it!

Then Scott decided to tell a story about the snowman...or so we thought...

As we drove home, Kristin spotted an eagle. So awesome!
